10 Characters That Could Appear In X-Men: Apocalypse
6. Kurt Wagner - Nightcrawler
Bryan Singer has already stated that he is looking to include Nightcrawler in Apocalypse, so it's a no-brainer that he'd make this list. However, due to Singer's personal issues and the criminal charges being levied against him, there is the possibility that any and all plans Singer has for Apocalypse could be out the window if he is convicted or taken off of the project from FOX before shooting even begins. Interestingly enough, Nightcrawler was intended to appear in DOFP but the scene was cut from the script before shooting. Nightcrawler made his film debut in X2: X-Men United and subsequently disappeared from the franchise without explanation (unless you played The Last Stand's video game tie-in) but remained one of the franchise's more popular and more memorable characters. With FOX receiving much praise for Blink's abilities in DOFP, Nightcrawler would be a wise inclusion if Blink is not featured in the next film. It's even more interesting noting that Nightcrawler - in the main timeline - is the son of Mystique and Azazel, both of whom became allied with Magneto at the end of First Class. Nightcrawler's appearance would give way to more of a backstory for Mystique, as it could fill in the gaps with what happened between First Class and DOFP. Unless Apocalypse decides to give us AOA Nightcrawler, who is allegedly the son of Mystique... and Sabretooth! Or, if they really want to throw in a swerve, they could capitalize on lingering feelings between Beast and Mystique and have Nightcrawler be a product of a dalliance between them.
