9. Tempo
With time-travel set to be the focal point of next year's
Days of Future Past, an X-Man character with time manipulation powers doesn't seem quite as silly as it might have seemed previously. Tempo (Heather Tucker) has the ability to slow down time to the extent that it appears to have stopped - an ability that she can also use to essentially give herself super-speed, which she showcased when she was able to keep up with Quicksilver in combat. She can also fly. Tempo is a morally ambiguous and interesting character whose powers have been utilised as key plot points in major storylines. Following the events of
M-Day - a huge comic book event in which most mutants lost their powers - she was one of the few to retain her powers and she stopped time for her team in order to kidnap Professor X.
