10 Characters Who Survived The Movie (Only To Suddenly Die In The Sequel)
5. Laurie Strode - Halloween
This was one of the biggest slaps in the face horror fans ever experienced. Laurie Strode is probably the most iconic “final girl” of all time, making it to the end of Halloween and fighting back against Michael Myers. She thankfully survives Halloween II, coming face to face with Michael before he’s blown up at the end.
Since everything was wrapped up here, she doesn’t appear in Halloween III, and so it seems like the franchise is going to leave her alone. But then Halloween 4 explains that Laurie died off screen, and the movie follows her daughter as the main character. So yes, one of the greatest horror protagonists of all time dies unceremoniously between sequels.
But Halloween H20 rectifies that, writing Halloween 4 out of canon and bringing back Jamie Lee Curtis. The film allows Laurie to kick some ass and finally defeat Michael Myers. Thank God they reversed that dumb decision to kill her off, right?
But guess what? In the very next sequel, Halloween: Resurrection, Laurie is killed again, this time on screen and this time it’s permanently canon. So yes, the franchise took iconic final girl Laurie Strode, killed her off, brought her back to life, and then killed her off again. And would it be beneath them to bring her back a third time in the new movie? Probably not.
