6. Unfriended - "This Is Contrary To The Word!"
A mostly unremarkable horror movie, Unfriended’s only message for its teenage audience is “Boo!” Then again, every viewer sees things through their own prism.
“As a Christian, suicide is never an acceptable action,” wrote one commentator. “Committing suicide is like saying to God, ‘I’m not worth it.’ This is contrary to the Word! We are worth it! God would not have sent his Son to save us if he didn’t think we were worth it.”
The viewer goes on to point out that Psalm 34 has advice for those with suicidal thoughts: “The Lord is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. A righteous man may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all.”
Which is all very well, but how do you console someone who wishes they’d gone to see Mad Max: Fury Road instead?
