10 Classic Britsploitation Horror Films

9. Exposé (1976)

expose trauma Udo Kier plays Paul Martin, a somewhat paranoid novelist who is renting a remote house in the British countryside. He has split up with his girlfriend Suzanne (Fiona Richmond) and has writer's block. Paul hires a secretary called Linda to do his typing. She is menaced by some youths at a train station and Paul beats them up. They later get their revenge and rape Linda in a field but she shoots them dead. Paul keeps coming on to Linda, but she rejects him and he gets Suzanne to come back. Linda and Suzanne have lesbian sex. Paul goes a bit bonkers, Suzanne is killed in the bath tub and everything goes to hell in a hand basket. A genuine bona fide British Video Nasty, I had the pleasure of watching this film when the ban was rescinded on The Horror Channel. I cannot see how it made it onto the Video Nasty list. Okay, there is sex and violence but not that much of it. Certainly not enough to put it in the same league as Cannibal Holocaust and Last House on the Left. It is, essentially, a sleazy little thriller with a few mild thrills thrown in - such as the nudity of British sex siren Fiona Richmond. This is probably what most people were watching it for - to see Ms Richmond in the buff! If you fancy switching off your brain, Exposé will provide you with a modicum of entertainment.

My first film watched was Carrie aged 2 on my dad's knee. Educated at The University of St Andrews and Trinity College Dublin. Fan of Arthouse, Exploitation, Horror, Euro Trash, Giallo, New French Extremism. Weaned at the bosom of a Russ Meyer starlet. The bleaker, artier or sleazier the better!
