10 Classic Movie Details You Never Noticed
7. The Stolen Pepper - The Godfather Part II
Even though The Godfather trilogy has been dissected to death over the decades, here's something you probably never noticed - a most minor criminal infraction amid all the wanton lawbreaking in the series' second film.
During the flashback showing a young Vito (Oreste Baldini) walking through Little Italy, for a fleeting moment it's possible to spot a man reaching into a fellow shopper's bag and surreptitiously stealing a pepper out of it.
Sure, it's a relatively trivial crime in the grand scheme of the franchise, but still an amusing discovery, to know that Francis Ford Coppola was thinking about every single detail of the extras passing through the scene.
The act of theft may seem obvious once you notice it, but as the camera is constantly moving and there's so much human traffic throughout the shot, it's incredibly easy to gloss over it regardless.
Even over a half-century after its release, we're still learning things about this stone cold masterpiece.
