We may know him best now as the mind behind the live action Lion King remake and the critically acclaimed Star Wars TV spin-off The Mandalorian, but there was a time when Jon Favreau was simply a bright young talent trying to find his place in the film industry.

Off the back of success in comedy ventures like Swingers and appearances in the hit sitcom Friends, Favreau decided to step into the world of boxing, playing the legendary Rocky Marciano in a 1999 TV movie depicting the fighter's rise to superstardom. Now, the film may not be classed as an out-and-out action extravaganza, but the scenes showcasing a ripped up Favreau throwing punches as the famous boxing great more than earn the actor a spot on this list.

The action-packed, abs of steel life may not have been a sustainable one for Favreau going forward, but that still didn't stop him going on to become a mainstay in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Happy Hogan, or directing numerous modern greats such as Elf, Iron Man, and The Jungle Book.
