10 Comic Book Characters That Movies Totally Butchered

9. Venom (Spider-Man 3)

Spider-Man 3 Here's a film that in general suffered from way too much hype, and a lot of that was due to the expectation that Spider-Man's #1 fan favourite enemy, Venom, would finally get the awesome Sam Raimi movie treatment fans had been asking for. If we first factor in that director Raimi wasn't at all a fan of Venom and simply cowed to audience demands, we then have to consider that the decision to cast Topher Grace as Eddie Brock was not a particularly smart one; though Grace is a great actor, he just isn't at all suited to the comic book vision of the character, and seeing him prance around with a CGI Venom suit looked goofy and ridiculous. A larger, more physically imposing actor was needed to sell the role, and on top of that, constantly pulling back Venom's face to reveal the human exterior was frustrating and stupid. Oh, and the way Spidey beat him by using a pole to confuse him was beyond underwhelming...
