His first cinema outing featured hints of horror weaved throughout the film as David S. Sandberg put his own spin on the character. Zachary Levi added child-like wonder to the role but it was nowhere near as scary as of what could have been.

Considering this world is supposed to be for a kid that turns into a superhero, the New 52 version of the character gives everyone the creeps. The Seven Deadly Sins look more demonic than stone gargoyles with red eyes, as they have their own personalities and are drawn in a way that would give Annabelle a run for her money.

The Sins aren’t the only enemies that Billy Batson has to worry about either. Black Adam serves as a looming threat because of the fact that he could kill Billy at any moment.

Growing up as a teenager with anxieties is enough, adding onto the paranoia that someone wants to murder you with the might of six Egyptian Gods will understanbaly drive you to the edge.
