Before it was a hit Netflix Original, The Umbrella Academy were actually meant to make their live-action debut on the big screen. However, just because it is a Netflix series, doesn’t mean you can’t make a spin-off film.

A film based on one of their missions when the team was in their prime is perfect. Like SHAZAM!, the team are children sometimes going up against adults that could outmatch them. If you have read the first comic, there is a part of the story where Allison (The Rumour) is held hostage by the villain Dr. Terminal. The scene is short, but it shows that these horrifying villains that these children went up against could be the stuff of nightmares, giving the siblings PTSD in their adulthoods.

The villains aren’t the only ones that could contribute to the horror themes, considering we haven’t seen Number 6’s power in live-action as it has always been either behind a blurred window or shown through a see-through effect. Being able to produce a tentacle monster from your skin scores huge points in the body horror category.

Klaus’ ability to speak to the dead would also make an amazing solo outing as he debunks or tries to control ghosts that are causing trouble, acting sort of like a seance for hire. (A “ghost-buster” if you will.)
