As a general rule, comic book movies are fun, action-packed popcorn flicks that are invariably suitable for children. Spider-Man, Iron Man, the Avengers, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four and the majority of the early Batman movies are testament to that notion. That said, a number of comic book movies have broken the mould by either being outright dark or by having elements of more adult-oriented movie genres.
