10 Comic Book Movie Moments That Felt More Like Horror Movies
5. Jonah Hex Speaks To The Dead (Jonah Hex)
The Jonah Hex movie was absolutely slammed by critics and audiences alike - and rightly so, as it wasn't great. One of the biggest criticisms of the movie was the inexplicable inclusion of supernatural powers possessed by the titular anti-hero. In the comic books, Hex is simply an insanely skilled combatant - in both hand-to-hand combat and marksmanship - and yet, in this live action movie, he was given the ability to speak to corpses as long as he was making physical contact with them - a fact that made Roger Ebert describe the movie as "a graphic anthology of strange occult ideas." An example of this power would be when he dug up Jeb Turnbull - the son of the man he was hunting down, Quentin Turnbull - and brought him back to life for a discussion about his father. The corpse emerges, rotten and rancid, and Hex touches it to have a conversation with him in what is a very eerie situation. There are other moments when Hex talks to fresher corpses who look like extras from a zombie movie, adding another unwelcome addition to a movie that could have been so much better.
