10 Comic Book Movie Moments That Felt More Like Horror Movies
4. Parallax Attacks (Green Lantern)
Like Jonah Hex, Green Lantern was awful. It wasn't quite as bad as Jonah Hex, as there was clearly more attention to detail in Green Lantern, but it was still pretty terrible and disappointed fans of the character enormously. One of the more awful parts of the movie was the fear entity Parallax attacking. Parallax was responsible for the killing of a number of Green Lanterns who came before Ryan Reynolds' Hal Jordan and was responsible for the creation of the villainous Hector Hammond (in this movie at least) and came to Earth looking to destroy the big blue marble. In the comics, Parallax is a cosmic entity which often looks like a large yellow insect-type creature (though it can change its form). It is capable of mass reality alteration, control over time itself, flight, bodily possession, mind-control, mass fear-induction and the creation of solid yellow fear energy constructs. In this movie, it was presented like a supernatural horror movie monster as disappointing as the Rise of the Silver Surfer's presentation of Galactus. It looked like something from The Fog, The Mummy or Darkness Falls and was nothing like the powerful cosmic being the comics have shown it to be for twenty years.
