10 Comic Book Movies That Could Have Been Saved With A Single Tweak

9. Removing The Superfluous Characters - The Dark Knight Rises

The Dark Knight Rises is, generally speaking, hefty, bombastic, entertaining, confusing and outright bizarre blockbuster picture - there's no denying its many, many flaws, but there are aspects of its construction to celebrate, too. Hence the mixed reviews. Still, there is one aspect of production that - should it have been removed - would have helped The Dark Knight Rises away from being the odd, convoluted mess that it is. We're talking about the endless stream of superfluous, unnecessary characters that fill the movie from top to bottom. Instead of focusing on those we care about, like Batman and Bane, writer/director Christopher Nolan consistently shifts to characters we have no connection with (Blake, Foley, Jen... who are these people?), which only causes the picture to lag. Had these players between removed, Rises would've been stronger.
