10 Comic Book Movies That Actually Deserve Remakes

The 2005 Man-Thing movie is one of the biggest wastes of a comic book potential in history, and that’s saying something. Other movies here like Elektra and Ghost Rider, as well as ones not featured like Spider-Man 3, Fantastic Four or Superman IV have become cult classics for how schlocky they are; Man-Thing couldn’t even manage that.

Marvel didn’t have much faith in it to begin with; it debuted direct to TV on SyFy, becoming the first Marvel feature to do so for eight years. With the MCU seemingly growing stronger with each movie, it’ll likely be a long time before it happens again.

If you want to see a run of the mill monster movie, then the current Man-Thing is probably enough for you, even if it does cram too many half finished plots in for characters we aren’t partinvested in. The issue though is that there are already plenty of monster movies; Man-Thing could be so much more.

Man-Thing is a biochemist who crashed into a swamp while injecting himself with the Captain America super serum; his consciousness occasionally shines through and there’s room for him to be grey. He’s a far more complex character than this movie suggests.
