10 Cool Scenes Cut From Tim Burton's Batman Movies

4. Harvey Dent Cameo - Batman Returns

Batman Tim Burton Robin
Warner Brothers

There’s a long-standing rumour Max Shreck was originally intended to be Harvey Dent, which makes a certain amount of sense. His political aspirations are more in line with a District Attorney than a department store owner, and when Catwoman attacks him in the climax it sure looks like a setup for his face to be horribly disfigured.

It’s not true, though; Shreck was always meant to be a new character. That’s not to say the idea of using Dent wasn’t discussed. Returns screenwriter Daniel Waters has spoken of his plan to use Dent for a cameo, which would naturally set up his appearance in the next movie.

Shreck would have invited him to join his villainous scheme. Harvey then flips a coin, and when it lands on the “good” side he politely declines. It would have a nice easter egg for the fans, in addition to giving Billy Dee Williams a return performance as Harvey.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
