10 Cut Scenes That Would Have Totally Changed Their Movies
6. Get Out - Rose Was Hypnotised Too
Storming onto the horror scene with the likes of Get Out, Us, and his new role producing the upcoming Candyman film, comedian-turned-filmmaker Jordan Peele has become an instant icon of the genre.
It's his debut film that gets a place on this list. A chilling thriller with a poignant social commentary on race relations, Get Out follows Chris (Daniel Kaluuya) visit his white girlfriend's - Rose (Alison Williams) - parents. However, it doesn't take long for Chris to discover he's been hypnotised by the mother so a rich white man can take over his body.
However, an extended conversation reveals a telling detail that would have completely changed the film's big twist: Rose was hypnotised, too. In the scene, Chris confronts his girlfriend about being in "the sunken place" before Rose tells him that she was also hypnotised by her mum to help overcome stage fright in high school.
Of course, Rose could well be lying here in order to reassure her soon-to-be victim, but the implication here is that she is an unwilling participant in her family's twisted kidnapping scheme. The premise of Get Out is much scarier if the Armitage family are all acting on their own accord.
