10 DC Characters Who NEED Their Own Movie
3. Blackhawk
The other nine entries here all come with the complication of meshing into the DCEU. Marvel have shown how effective these team ups can be if done correctly, but DC’s have been rushed, messy and not particularly linked so far.
With some having their origins tied to existing DCEU heroes too, that could make their introduction all the more complicated.
That’s where someone like Blackhawk comes in.
When the MCU needed to introduce Captain Marvel in between Avengers two-parter Infinity War and Endgame, they went down the period piece route. While Brie Larson’s alleged ‘SJW’ vibe earned her some very loud detractors, the movie still grossed over $1 billion, so you’d have to say the strategy was successful.
There’s other factors to this grossing, but DC would do well to ape the strategy. If nothing else, it allows them to put solid footing down away from their slightly haphazard Extended Universe.
Blackhawk provides them that opportunity. He’s a World War II era ace pilot, leading a squadron against the Nazis. He’s getting a movie too, helmed by Spielberg, but not until after the next Indiana Jones and a West Side Story remake. Let’s hope that DC has their act together by then.
