10 Deaths That Movies Totally Forgot About
8. Sergeant Doyle - 28 Weeks Later
Sergeant Doyle (Jeremy Renner) gets dealt one hell of a raw hand near the end of 28 Weeks Later, when he helps push-start the car that the other survivors are inside.
For his efforts, soldiers with flamethrowers light him up, instantly killing him as Scarlet (Rose Byrne), Tammy (Imogen Poots), and Andy (Mackintosh Muggleton) drive away.
The moment that Doyle's body hits the pavement, though, he's basically instantly forgotten, no matter the bravery of his sacrifice to ensure the others' survival.
Sure, you can argue that the remaining 20-or-so minutes of the movie are so intense that there isn't really a good time to stop and eulogise Doyle, but even so, considering he was a major character for a significant chunk of the film and arguably the real hero of the story, it sucks for him to get not even a passing mention.
Then again, such is the ruthlessly unsentimental world of these movies, where anyone is fair game to die - something worth remembering with the release of the upcoming 28 Years Later.
