10 Deaths That Movies Totally Forgot About
9. Phil Sarkowski - Carry-On
Netflix's recent sub-Die Hard seasonal thriller Carry-On follows a TSA officer, Ethan Kopek (Taron Egerton), who is blackmailed into helping terrorists get a nerve agent onboard a flight.
One of the terrorists' mid-film casualties is Ethan's supervisor at the airport, Phil Sarkowski (Dean Norris), who is stabbed to death by another blackmail victim, Mateo (Tonatiuh Elizarraraz).
It's a shocking moment given that Phil is ultimately one of the more prominent supporting characters, while also being played by Breaking Bad's Dean Norris of all people.
But once Phil's corpse is transported out of this room in a luggage cart to avoid being discovered, the movie basically forgets about him completely, his corpse seemingly left to rot in the luggage cart while Ethan heads off to save the day.
Presumably the filmmakers realised that lingering on this grim fact would rather undermine the more pulpy, fist-pumping action movie vibe they were shooting for, even if it feels weird that after Phil's death the movie just - wait for it - carries on.
