10 Deaths That Movies Totally Forgot About
7. Mako Mori - Pacific Rim Uprising
The single most disappointing thing about Pacific Rim Uprising is the unceremonious demise of one of the first film's most beloved characters, Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi).
Mako shows up for a brief supporting part in the first act, before being suddenly killed in a helicopter crash caused by a rogue Jaeger.
It's revealed moments later that Mako transmitted a message for new hero Jake Pentecost (John Boyega) moments before her death, but once this is established, she's only mentioned once more in the entire rest of the film, with no meaningful attention at all paid to her shocking end.
It felt like the film's army of screenwriters desperately wanted to clear the O.G. characters off the deck as swiftly as possible and move forward with their new band of heroes, yet considering that Mako was arguably the most popular human character from Guillermo del Toro's original film, it was a huge mistake to toss her out like this.
