5. The Tit and the Moon (1994)
Another entry directed by Bigas Luna, The Tit and The Moon follows the adventures of Tete, a 9 year old boy who has a Russ Meyer type fixation with women's breasts. He is jealous of his little brother being breast fed by his mother so he goes on a search to find the perfect pair of lactating breasts that he can covet all for his very own. A beautiful Portuguese dancer arrives in town. Could she be the answer to Tete's fantasies? He has many rivals. Will he prevail? It may sound like a dodgy premise but this time Bigas Luna gets everything right that he got wrong with The Ages of Lulu. The film has charm, warmth and depth. It is beautifully filmed and scored. The incredible Mathilda May really makes the film an unmitigated success in her role as the hotly pursued love interest in the film. The humour is earthy and never feels squalid. For a nice gentle erotic comedy, check this one out.
