7. Why Did Soran Make A Random Joke About Geordi's Heart? - Star Trek Generations

The Mystery:

Later on in the seventh Star Trek film, the villainous Tolian Soran (Malcolm McDowell) is asked by the Klingons whether or not his interrogation of Geordi La Forge (LeVar Burton) was successful.

Soran retorts, "No. His heart just wasn't in it", a peculiar and clearly quite specific line which the audience has zero frame of reference for. What the hell did Soran mean by this?

The Deleted Scene:

This incredibly rough deleted scene depicts Soran torturing Geordi by using an especially brutal method he learned from the Borg: placing a nanoprobe in Geordi's chest and constantly stopping and starting his heart in the hope of getting answers.

And with that, Soran's quip makes total sense.
