6. Peter Parker's Parents Were Killed By The Winter Soldier
Now we return to poor Peter Parker, and the parents he likely never really knew. It’s a compelling theory that they were killed during the attacks on 9/11, but this is certainly far from the only potential cause of their deaths.
In The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and the comics before it, Richard and Mary Parker were scientists working on something just dangerous enough to get them murdered. Exactly the same could have happened in the MCU.
Say the Parkers worked for SHIELD. It’s not unreasonable, as that is exactly what they did in the source material, so they would already be in almost constant danger. Arguably the greatest danger would have come from HYDRA lurking within SHIELD, and Alexander Pierce’s perfect killing machine.
Bucky killed Tony Stark’s parents, along with countless other targets of varying importance, likely going quite high up the SHIELD hierarchy. He was sent to kill Nick Fury after all, so why not Richard and Mary Parker? This would be just another chapter in the incredibly dark history of James Buchanan Barnes, and another hero whose parents he killed.
