10 Devious Ways Movies Tried To Trick You
1. James Bond Can't Die... Right? - No Time To Die
James Bond is a character cemented in cinematic immortality, or so we thought.
Speaking figuratively, Bond's legacy will never die as there will always be more Bond films, with the next chapter of 007 being very possibly but also very probably led by one Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
However, speaking literally, that's certainly not the case as Cary Joji Fukunaga's No Time to Die proved.
As it turned out, the final instalment of Craig's Bond billing was well worth the wait. The actor had endured a turbulent tenure playing the iconic spy as injuries began to pile up, pushing him to his physical and almost certainly psychological limits.
Although audiences were shocked at the sight of 007 meeting his almost impossible-to-have-imagined demise, the warning signs had been there in the past. Previous portrayals of the character had appeared immortal but Craig's iteration was very much mortal.
Craig had made a big effort to make his portrayal of the character human, relatable and most importantly, vulnerable and this is shown in his multiple close calls with death ranging from his near-fatal poisoning in 2006's Casino Royale to his shooting and perceived death in the opening sequence of 2012's Skyfall.
So, when it came to closing the chapter on his 007, audiences were faced with not just one slap in the face, but two. Not only were we tricked into thinking Bond could never die due to the character's cinematic history but the title of the film 'No Time to Die' lied to our faces.
As it turned out, he had all the time in the world to die... roll the credits.
