10 Director's Cuts We'd Rather See Than Snyder's Justice League
1. Caddyshack
Alongside Animal House, Caddyshack brought to the forefront of American comedy a sense of irreverence never before seen in Hollywood. The slobs vs. snobs mentality had fully taken hold, and Bill Murray was leading the charge.
Caddyshack was a terrific blend of old world and new, with nightclub legends like Rodney Dangerfield ushering in SNL alums such as Murray an Chevy Chase to take the reins. And by all accounts, they did so with abandon. According to legend, one of Bill Murray's trademark riffing monologues reportedly went for a full half-hour.
The first cut of the film was four and half hours. There's a reason comedies are often short. It's difficult to sustain a joke for the entire run of a feature film, something too many SNL spinoffs attempt to do. But if Judd Apatow's director cuts are any indication, it's that we're more than willing as an audience to simply hang out with our screen friends.
If we can petition a studio into shelling out millions for a superhero epic, surely we can unite to get a half-hour of Bill Murray yelling at a gopher.
