10 Directors Who Could Take Over Avengers: Infinity War From Joss Whedon

3. Matthew Vaughn

Had things played out a little differently, Matthew Vaughn would have directed X-Men: Days Of Future Past and more than likely followed that up with X-Men: Apocalypse. However, he decided to prioritise the big screen adaptation of Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons' Kingsman: The Secret Service, leaving that Fox-owned Marvel franchise behind him. There's been talk of a Kingsman sequel, but an offer from Marvel Studios could prove to be too hard to turn down for the British filmmaker. Vaughn has a little bit of history with them too after very nearly directing Thor, while he also had nothing but good things to say about Guardians Of The Galaxy in a recent interview. He's clearly a fan of their movies. Vaughn helped put the X-Men franchise back on the right track with X-Men: First Class in a very short period of time thanks to a tight production schedule, so being given the keys to the Marvel kingdom and a budget for a movie as big as Avengers: Infinity War would no doubt lead to something very special. He has to be on their short list.
