8. Shogun's Sadism (1976)
Utterly sick but utterly brilliant torture based film from Japan. I honestly didn't think I would enjoy myself watching it half as much as I did. The film is split into two halves - two separate stories set in the era of the Shogun. A samurai falls in love with a Christian girl to both his and her detriment and in the other story, a man is forced to work in a brothel and becomes friendly with one of the prostitutes - again to his and her detriment. The film sounds like a sick exploitation movie, but it has surprisingly glossy production values, it is well acted and deftly directed. Nevertheless, the torture scenes are quite extreme and repellant. A dying prostitute is forced to have sex with clients after a botched abortion. Women are thrown into pits of snakes. But the worst moment comes when a woman has her legs tied to oxen who charge off in different directions and dismember her limbs. The full name of Shogun's Sadism is Shogun's Joy of Torture 2: Oxen Split Torture which tells you that the scene is the biggest barf inducing trick that the director hits you with in the film. Seriously check this one out!
