Danny Dyer is the go-to hardman for British film casting people. Dozens of direct-to-DVD thrillers have sold themselves almost solely on the basis of Dyer wielding a handgun on the cover. It seems that there's absolutely no one who actually thinks that Danny Dyer is a competent actor. His trademark aggressive Cockney shtick may work well for a certain audience, but it's not going to win anyone an Academy Award. Whilst some of his stuff, like Vendetta, is rather watchable, there's plenty of utterly risible work, like Run For Your Wife, in his filmography. Despite all of this, Dyer is still one of the most recognisable faces in British acting. His film career has tailed off in the last year or so, but he's still virtually unavoidable given his high-profile role as the landlord of the Queen Vic in EastEnders. Danny Dyer is an actor who, seemingly, is completely immune to criticism.
Freelance film journalist and fan of professional wrestling. Usually found in a darkened screening room looking for an aisle seat and telling people to put away their mobile phones. Also known to do a bit of stand-up comedy, so I'm used to the occasional heckle.
