10 Disney Movie Mistakes You Can't Unsee

9. The Portrait - Beauty And The Beast

Tangled Mistake
Disney

Beauty and the Beast isn't just one of the best Disney films; it is one of the greatest movies of all time. It was the first animation to be Oscar-nominated for Best Picture; a feat that didn't reoccur for 18 years with the Pixar film, Up. The Academy Awards were so blown away by this Disney masterpiece, it directly inspired the creation of the Best Animated Feature Film category.

Beauty and the Beast's influence in the film industry is unquestionable but that doesn't change the fact there is an egregious error in one of the most iconic scenes. In the prologue, we see the Beast shred a portrait of himself.

When Belle explores the West Wing later on, she stumbles upon this very same painting. However, the way the picture is torn is completely different to how it was depicted in the opening scene. How could the animators possibly make such a blatant blunder? While animating the scene where Belle discovers the painting, surely the artists would have referenced the shot from the opening scene for the sake of continuity, right?

So why didn't they ensure the tears in the painting matched?
