If there is one thing that Disney has absolutely no issue with, it is in the creation of many, many, many sequels for its successful films. They are hardly the only movie studio to do this, though they seem to be one of the more recognisable ones for what they turn out. For every classic, there are three or four (at least) direct-to-DVD/streaming sequels waiting.
Because of this, they have got a bit of a bad reputation. While no one is about to argue (in this article, at least) that The Hunchback of Notre Dame 2: Let's Get Hunchier is a great film (it isn't. It just... it just isn't), that is not to say that all Disney sequels/spin offs are bad.
The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride, while not being as good as the original, is still a perfectly charming film for younger audiences. The Lion King 1 and 1/2 is a surprisingly funny, decent film!
The entries on this list combine a list of what ifs and redos. There were television series for several of the '90s Disney films, though in large part this list ignores these. We are looking for 80-90 minutes of pure, animated fun with these characters! We want budget! We want strong writing! At the very least, we want a chuckle or three - can't we have that?
Read on and let's imagineer (please don't sue me) together!
