10 Disturbing Movie Deaths Nobody Remembers
8. Westray - The Counselor
The Counselor is undeniably one of Ridley Scott's most divisive films, and yet despite releasing barely a decade ago, it's largely been lost in the shuffle among his prolific filmography.
This is despite the fact that it features one of the most brilliantly unnerving death scenes in any movie, well, ever.
Near the end of the film, Westray (Brad Pitt) is attacked in London by an assailant working for Malkina (Cameron Diaz), who wraps a device round his neck previously referred to as a "bolito."
A bolito is basically a battery-powered strangulation device which slowly constricts a metal wire around the victim's neck, killing them.
And so, we're left to watch as Westray helplessly tries to remove the device while it tightens, until it finally cuts into his neck and decapitates him, spraying blood all over the pavement as various passing commuters watch in horror.
The prolonged nature of the death, combined with Westray's desperate, failed scramble to save himself, makes this uniquely uncomfortable to sit through.
