10 Disturbing Movie Deaths Nobody Remembers
6. Clyde's Cellmate - Law Abiding Citizen
Law Abiding Citizen features a number of memorably over-the-top deaths as protagonist Clyde Shelton (Gerard Butler) exacts his absurdly convoluted, ultra-violent revenge scheme on the criminal justice system which failed his murdered wife and daughter.
While most of Shelton's killings have a heightened, unhinged quality to them, there's a more grounded one in the middle of the film that's all the more disturbing precisely because of how matter-of-fact it is.
After Shelton confesses to his vengeance-fuelled murders, he ends up in prison and demands a fancy steak lunch in exchange for revealing where a missing lawyer is.
Shelton initially shares the lunch with his cellmate, before taking one of the steak's bones and repeatedly stabbing it into the guy's neck, causing him to bleed out in record time.
Compared to all the other deaths in the movie this one feels nauseatingly simple and realistic - a guy's neck spraying a fountain of blood after being stabbed with a sharp object many times, captured in a single handheld medium shot without any fancy coverage.
It may not be as nifty as Shelton using a bomb disposal robot to kill people, but it's way more visceral.
