10 Disturbing Things Found In The Background Of Horror Movies

2. The Falling Satellite - Cloverfield

Before he was directing the darkest version of Batman to date - that's literally, rather than figuratively - Matt Reeves helmed Cloverfield, a found footage horror movie about a big old beastie laying waste to New York City.

Because giant alien monsters never seem to go to Hull for some reason.

A month before the main events of the film, protagonists Rob and Beth go on a day out to Coney Island. They ride the Ferris wheel, eat cotton candy, get ripped off by stall attendants. That isn't confirmed, it's just usually what happens when you go to Coney Island.

Just before the camera cuts off, Beth says, "I had a nice day", bringing the entire sad saga to a bittersweet end. However, unbeknownst to the couple, their holiday footage shows more than just a happy memory.

In a shot of the ocean, very very faintly in the background, a mysterious object is seen crashing into the water. Many believe this to be the creature itself arriving on Earth, whilst some have theorised that it's actually remnants of the satellite later seen in The Cloverfield Paradox.

Whatever it is, this is one juicy bit of teasing.
