10 Do’s and 10 Don’ts For Choosing What Movie To Watch Tonight

6. Do Read the Synopsis

If seeing Charlize Theron's radiant, Christian Dior sponsored face on a poster isn't enough for you to go watch her movie then logically, this question follows. "What's it about?" If you're not choosing between David Lynch films, you're in luck. Movie synopses are generally easy to explain. They need to be. If someone were to spend half an hour trying to explain to me what the basic premise of a film was, I'd automatically skip on the movie. Same with most people. Knowing what the movie is about is obviously essential to choosing whether to watch it or not. So, what is it about? "It's about a girl who is transported to a surreal world where she kills the first person she meets and teams up with three friends to murder one more time." Pretty interesting synopsis. I'd be interested in watching this if I was in a suspense thriller mood, but would be dumbfounded once "The Wizard of Oz" started playing. Movie synopses can be misleading, which leads us to our next point...

I'm a thinker/fantasizer who writes down his thoughts and fantasies hoping it makes sense to everyone else. Also I'm an aspiring screenwriter, but if I can work in film at all, I'd be happy. One day you may hear the name Ryan Kim and associate it with "Academy Award winning writer" or with "where's that guy with my coffee." If the latter comes true, please let it be Paul Thomas Anderson's coffee I'm getting.
