10 Dumbest Decisions Ever Made By MCU Villains

8. Thanos Gave Loki The Mind Stone

There aren’t many villains that can boast the biggest claim that Thanos can. He went toe to toe with the Avengers and won. His dream of assembling the Infinity Stones and eradicating half of all living creatures was achieved at the end of Infinity War, but that doesn’t mean his journey or his plan was perfect.

To begin with, the Mad Titan seemed content to sit back and let others do his bidding for him. He put a lot of faith in the likes of Gamora, Nebula, Ronan, and Loki to procure the stones for him, though none truly came through like he hoped.

In the case of Loki, Thanos sent him to Midgard with the sole objective of retrieving the Tesseract for him. He even handed Loki a Chitauri army and a magic sceptre to help him. No one knows where Thanos got this sceptre from, or if he knew what exactly it was that he was giving to Loki, but in doing so he gave away the only Infinity Stone he had at the time.

Since Thanos seemingly knew everything there was to know about the Infinity Stones, it seems unlikely he was ignorant to what the sceptre truly was, which makes this move even stupider. Instead of doing it himself from the start, he gave his only stone to Loki, and instead of having two at the end of the Battle of New York, he had zero.
