On the surface, there was nothing to indicate that Thad was pure of heart. The fact that he was bullied didn’t mean anything in this regard.

Unsurprisingly, he was too tempted by the power of the Sins, and Shazam sent him back to the real world, only he left with a taste for power. He came back many years later and took the Eye of Sin for himself, something that wouldn’t have happened had the Wizard been more careful with who he was revealing the truth of magic to.
