10 Dumbest Decisions In Sci-Fi Movie History

1. Unleashing The Titans To "Save" Earth - Godzilla: King Of The Monsters

And finally, we have this summer's monstrously disappointing Godzilla: King of the Monsters.

Besides focusing on Godzilla and various other digital monsters beating each other up, the movie ill-advisedly attempts to rustle up a clever and nuanced plot, but instead settles for one propelled forward by the stupidest movie character of the entire summer (so far).

The film's big twist is that Dr. Emma Russell (Vera Farmiga) has actually been working with the eco-terrorist antagonists all along, and aids them in their plan to unleash the Titans on Earth in order to restore balance to the natural ecosystem that humans have damaged.

Alright, take it easy there, Thanos.

Russell's plan results in the deaths of millions as the Titans are awoken and duke it out, only for her to realise that the damage caused by duelling Titans far exceeds humanity's abuse of the planet (duh!).

Russell eventually sacrifices herself to save her daughter Madison (Millie Bobby Brown), and the film depicts it as this emotional moment of selflessness...as though the audience magically forgot she was a terrorist tyrant who literally killed millions. Right.

None of her decision making makes any sense: as far as eco-terrorist plots go it's totally ridiculous, and the fact she can't even stay committed to her cause, suddenly realising her daughter could be one of the many casualties, is peak idiocy. What a mess.
