10 Dumbest Decisions In Sci-Fi Movie History

2. Basically Everything - Prometheus

Oh, Prometheus.

Where to even begin with Ridley Scott's super-stylish, atmospheric and well-acted car crash of mind-bogglingly asinine character decisions?

First and foremost, the crew of the Prometheus arrive on the moon LV-223 and soon enough remove their helmets, despite the extreme possibility of contamination.

This only gets worse when Millburn (Rafe Spall) decides to try and play with a snake-like alien creature found on the moon, leading to his inevitable death.

Furthermore, none of the crew have sufficient weaponry for the mission, characters get lost despite mapping out the area and generally react in the most stupid manner possible when faced with mortal danger.

Only one of the movie's stupid decisions is even half-way acceptable as the result of a blind panic - Vickers (Charlize Theron) running in a straight line away from the rolling ship because running at full-speed while looking behind you is really damn difficult.

Elsewhere Captain Janek (Idris Elba) and his pilots sacrifice themselves while acting like it's nothing more than a minor inconvenience, typefying that basically nobody in this film acts how an actual human reasonably would.

To make matters worse, Scott promised that Alien: Covenant would remedy this with more believable decision making, only to have characters remove their helmets and get themselves killed all over again.
