10 Dumbest Movie Plot Twists Of 2020

2. Steve Trevor Hijacks Another Man's Body - Wonder Woman 1984

Fantasy Island
Warner Bros.

Wonder Woman 1984 was undeniably one of 2020's most disappointing films - an inane, overstuffed mess of ideas and tones that never really cohere, but it's never more actively insulting than when it drops that Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) twist.

It was no secret prior to the film's release that the long-dead Trevor would be somehow resurrected in 1984, but the means through which this comes about are troubling to say the least.

Near the start of the film, Diana (Gal Gadot) inadvertently uses the Dreamstone artefact to wish Steve back to life.

Yet as his introductory scenes make bafflingly clear, he hasn't simply been wished out of thin air: he's actually been shoved into the body of a random guy off the street (Kristoffer Polaha).

This naturally invites a ton of ethical questions about the man whose life Steve "hijacks", especially as it's implied that Diana has sex with him, not to mention the mortal danger that his body is put in numerous times.

Considering that the script could've easily just magicked Steve into existence without the moral messiness of him stealing another man's life, it's a twist not only staggeringly idiotic but also totally unnecessary.
