2. Greedo Shoots First
The Moment: Han Solo meets Greedo, an alien bounty hunter, in the Mos Eisley cantina. Greedo attempts to extract a debt owed by Solo to Jabba the Hutt, but fails and then decides to simply kill him. Greedo misses with his blaster however and Han shoots in self-defence, killing him.
Why it's Dumb: This scene has been butchered time and time again in post-release edits. For those who don't know, the original version didn't involve Greedo shooting at all. Han knew his life was in danger and so took the initiative by shooting Greedo first with his blaster which he had hidden under the table. The studio however decided that this portrayal of Han as a cold-blooded killer wouldn't appeal to a child audience, and so digitally altered it to appear that Han was shooting purely in self-defence, proving he would never dream of killing anyone unless he had no choice. The most obvious complaint here is that, had Greedo actually shot first, how on Earth can he miss a stationary target that is sitting across the table?
