After surviving a deadly train crash in M. Night Shyamalan's 2000 film Unbreakable , David Dunn (Bruce Willis) is scouted by Elijah Price, a comic book expert who suffers from brittle bone disease.

Price convinces Dunn that he has been gifted incredible powers and offers to guide him in his work as a vigilante.

At the end of the movie, we find out that Price's actions were not entirely altruistic.

Dunn uses his powers to discover that his friend was actually the one behind the crash. Not only that, but he was also involved in several other acts of terrorism, killing dozens of people.

Price's plan was to create these accidents to see if any superpowered individuals survived. He reveals that Dunn is the one success he's ever had, right before he gets locked up in an institute for the criminally insane.

In Price's twisted mind, he's a supervillain, so he needs a hero to go up against.

Only problem is, he's not a supervillain. He's a very sick man who could quite easily be crushed by the man with incredible strength that he's just peed off.

Not the sharpest idea from Mr. Glass.
