10 Dumbest Villain Plans From Sci-Fi Movies

5. Mutating The Leaders Of The World - Magneto (X-Men)

There are a lot of good things to be said about the X-Men movie from 2000.

With an all-star cast and more serious tone, it did a lot of work to help legitimise superhero films in the eyes of the general public. On the other hand, some of the campiness that had plagued the genre for so long was still present.

Also, the villain plan sucked.

Led by Ian McKellan's Magneto, the Brotherhood of Mutants hatch a plan to use a radiation-inducing machine to trigger mutations the world's most senior dignitaries.

Magneto wants to do this to achieve his own warped sense of equality, which is a flawed but acceptable motivation.

However, if he'd conducted more than one test on his machine, he'd have known that normal humans cannot sustain forced mutation. The guy he did test it on ended up as a pile of human Jell-O!

If the X-Men hadn't have stopped him, all Magneto would have done was killed a bunch of important politicians, making the world hate mutants even more.

Next time Erik, maybe spend a bit more time working on your machine, and a bit less time making your own costume.
