10 DVD Covers With Unforgivably Massive Spoilers

8. Hancock

Hancock There still seems to be many in Hollywood of the view that the only infallible star left in existence is Will Smith. This is something I always found rather odd. On a simple level of quality, his films never reach as high as his equally popular counterparts (Brad Pitt, Leonardo Di Caprio) €“ even higher reaching stuff like I Am Legend comes across as dumbed down. And as Men in Black 3 showed, the audience isn€™t there anymore. His low frequency of features and their general bland nature seem lost on many of those big in cinema, who consistently state him as the only star remaining who can carry a movie commercially on his own. To anyone who still believes this, Hancock is a shining example of just what is wrong with Mr Smith; a great and very topical idea, squandered by a star's desire to not go too far (either in unlikeability or extremeness). Although for all its faults, the film does have at least one interesting development. The story of the last superhero, who now lives life as a drunk, super powered drifter, attempting to reform his image, it is revealed friend's wife Charlize Theron is another of his kind. While this twist sets in motion the rather predictable second half, it€™s an interesting move. Which makes the inclusion of Theron on the DVD cover in full super hero stance truly ridiculous; the films one ace squandered at the start.
