For most of his life, Peter Quill wanted nothing more than a father figure in his life. It’s why he proudly proclaimed to all his friends as a kid that his dad was David Hasselhoff.

He’d found a group to call family with the Guardians Of The Galaxy, but he still felt like something was missing. The one part that he always wanted: a father.

Then he finally met his biological dad, and for a moment, he thought he’d finally found him; that maybe he’d encountered the person he’d been looking for this entire time.

But, that same belief was broken once he learned that this same father was responsible for his mother’s death and later crushed his Walkman. He realized that this wasn't a man that loved him; this was a monster.

As he fought and killed his father, he noticed something: that always had the father figure he was looking for in Yondu, the man who caught him on Earth and raised him as his own.
