10 Epic Comic Book Movie Castings That Must Happen In 2016

5. Tom Hardy - Wolverine

Over the past few years, Tom Hardy - who could have easily spent the sum of his career as a capable character actor - has established himself as a leading man. If you weren't already convinced by his performances in movies like Bronson, Warrior and Locke, then Mad Max: Fury Road ought to have done the trick. He's always dynamite on-screen. As an actor, Hardy is a force of nature; a performer capable of those volatile, unstable performances that leave you wondering whether he's really crazy - all with just a touch of vulnerability that has since become his trademark. He's like a wounded animal. Hugh Jackman will very soon be bowing out gracefully from his turn as Wolverine, which means that somebody needs to fill the role. Tom Hardy is, without a doubt, the man for the job. Not only is he Jackman's own choice - "I think Tom Hardy would be a great," he said when prompted on the matter - but he has that animalistic, macho quality that defines Wolverine, all without sacrificing the inherent likability that goes with the character. Just picture him with those claws, a cigar dangling between his iconic lips. Oh, boy.
