6. Prim's Death - The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2
This is it; the earth-shattering moment that the entire Hunger Games franchise has been working towards. In the final Hunger Games movie, the games are overat least, the televised annual games that center on children murdering each other for sport and survivalbut the political chess and war schemes are just heating up. The film centers on our bow-toting heroine, Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence), who attempts to transition from television hero to rebel symbol. And (if the film follows its source material), the transition that Katniss makes from reluctant hero to full-blown killing machine will be set off by the death of her littler sister Primrose (Willow Shields). It's slightly ironic; Katniss volunteered for the Hunger Games to save Prims life. Instead, her actions inevitably lead to her sister's death. It remains to be seen how this vital scene will be dealt with in the film adaptation, but its crucial that the filmmakers get it right. With strong performances and a self-assured hand behind the camera, this could be the gasp-inducing emotional finale that the franchise unquestionably deserves.
