Whether you're an angry rockstar or a clumsy kid taking lessons, guitars get smashed all the time.

Most of these six strings are not irreplaceable 19th Century Martin guitars borrowed from a museum, however.

During the movie, Jennifer Jason Leigh's character "Crazy" Daisy Domergue starts playing with a guitar. Kurt Russell is playing the bounty hunter responsible for taking her in, and so is not best pleased when she starts mucking about.

The script called for the actor to grab the instrument and destroy it by smashing into the wall, which is what happened. Unfortunately, unbeknownst to Russell, somebody forgot to swap out the real antique guitar for a fake one.

Everyone was stunned by this mistake, but nobody broke character. Leigh's genuine reaction to the mistake was caught on camera and is the one that ended up being used in the film.

Whilst it all worked out well for the actors, someone who was less pleased with this outcome was the director of the Martin Guitar Museum, Dick Boak.

He was very unhappy with the incident, as you'd expect, and now the museum does not lend anything to movie productions.

Which is fair enough.
