10 Even More Movie Mistakes Directors Refused To Fix Because The Acting Was Too Good
4. Olaf Tries Again - Lemony Snicket’s A Series Of Unfortunate Events
Before it was a Netflix show and after it was a series of books, Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events was a movie.
The narrative centres on the three Baudelaire children after they are left orphaned. They are set to inherit a rather large fortune once eldest child Violet comes of age.
That is, if the nefarious Count Olaf doesn't get his hands on it first.
A stage actor and the children's supposed legal guardian, Olaf is played eccentrically by Jim Carrey.
Actually, we could have just told you he was played by Jim Carrey and you could have added the "eccentrically" part on your own.
When Olaf first meets the children, he asks them why they look so glum. After giving a fairly muted response to hearing that their parents had just died, Olaf signals for Klaus to give him the line again so he can give a grander reaction.
In reality, this was Carrey genuinely asking to do the line again. Through some clever editing and the fact that Olaf is meant to be a thespian, this error was able to be salvaged and fits right in with the rest of the movie.
