10 Even More Upcoming Movies That Are Already Doomed

8. Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F

Eddie Murphy's breakout performance in Beverly Hills Cops turned the comedian into an A-list star overnight. Though the SNL icon has played many memorable characters throughout his career, Axel Foley is his most iconic.

For this reason, it'll be a joy to see Murphy coming back to the franchise in Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F. This long-gestating sequel will also see the return of Foley's teammates, Rosewood, Taggart, Serge, and Jeffrey, which is sure to inject the film with some solid banter.

However, as Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire and the Star Wars sequels proved, getting the band back together doesn't guarantee success. Considering Beverly Hills Cop has laid dormant for 30 years, it shouldn't be dredged up unless the property is approached with a new angle or there's a terrific story to be told. Based on what's been revealed so far, Axel F's only purpose is to scratch a nostalgic itch.

Murphy is a comic genius, but his recent track record has been spotty at best. Now, there's no doubt 2019's Dolemite Is My Name is among Murphy's best work, but other recent projects like You People and Candy Cane Lane give enough reason to leave Eddie's biggest fans worried. And as Murphy already proved with the underwhelming Coming 2 America, it's sometimes better not to revisit a cherished property.
